Avelino Arantes Bastos was born in São Paulo in day 8 of January of 1961. From 1978 to 1980, Avelino travelled inside of Brazil searching for the ideal place to establish and to develop his own surf company. Florianópolis was the chosen city and in November of 1981 the first place of Tropical Brasil had been found.

In the end of 1980s he invented and constructed its proper machine of shape. During the 90s Tropical Brasil initiated the confection process and developed methods of license for its label, working incessantly in the quality of their surfboards and the name Tropical Brasil. Avelino started to make surfboards in Florianópolis, today Tropical Brasil is established in a shed and office with more than 1000 m2.

The professional surfers of the Tropical Brasil team like Deco Padaratz and Odirlei Coutinhoare an example of the satisfaction of the quality Tropical Brasil produces nowadays.
